I thought I'd start off this new board with a review of a game I'm currently playing: Yu-Gi-Oh! Spirit Caller for the DS. This also serves as an example for the type of thing I'm hoping for on this board.
I personally think this game is a lot of fun. And if you like the previous Yu-Gi-Oh! DS game (Nightmare Troubadour), then you'll love this one since they took everything that was good about the first one, and enhanced it.
GRAPHICS: Pretty much the same as Nightmare Troubadour. Nothing special, but they're good enough for this type of game. The few enhancements that were made in the graphics department were new animations for attacks. The card monsters still have limited animations, and all the conversations are shown with pictures of characters from the TV show.
GAMEPLAY: While you can use the control pad and buttons to navigate through the game, its far easier to use the stylus and touch screen. You basically touch the map to move where you want to go, looking for a red circle (which indicates where an NPC is). Unlike Nightmare Troubadour, finding an NPC isn't a pain in the ass anymore. When you get close, a yellow circle will appear, along with an arrow that points in the direction you need to go. Get closer and the circle will turn red with the direction pointing arrow. Keep going that way until you find the NPC.
NPC's can either talk to you or start a card battle. Card battles are essentially the same as in Nightmare Troubadour, although the battle screen has been rearranged slightly.
You continue having duels and raising you're level, and at certain points you unlock story line battles (if you want to call it a story line).
The biggest enhancement to gameplay is the ability to have duels ONLINE! Just connect to Nintendo WiFi and you can either choose to duel a friend (using the stupid friend code system) or choose to battle a random opponent. I've only battled once online...I had a bad connection or something, because it was majorly laggy.
SOUND: Pretty standard stuff here. Easily forgettable.
BOTTOM LINE: If you like Yu-Gi-Oh! or other collectable card games, then you should try this one out. I find it pretty fun, despite the fact that it gets a bit repetitive at times. |

| I havn't played this game, but I have Nightmare Troubadour (SP?), and I fairly enjoyed it. My only major problem with the Yu-Gi-Oh series is that these games are so madly over-repetetive. It seems like you're doing the exact same thing, over and over, and it just becomes a job. But since the Yu-Gi-Oh you just revealed has Online capabilities, I'm guessing it would be really fun because I always loved to play Yu-Gi-Oh with my friends, except no one buys the cards anymore. xD Isn't a newer game comming out soon though? Might as well wait for that one. =) |

| According to the Gamefaqs.com release chart, and new game should be out shortly (like within the next couple weeks), so, yeah, unless you want all the games for some reason then you might as well wait for the next one. |
